Summit Bid Information and Important Details (2024)

Connect Cheer NW Summit Team TEAL,

We want to start by sayingCONGRATULATIONSon Teal’s Wild Card Bid to the 2023 SUMMIT COMPETITION! We couldn't be more thrilled for this opportunity for our athletes, and are so proud of their hard work and dedication so far this season. We are so thankful for this early bid and the extra time it provides for early planning for our families. We know it is early, but want to send out some preliminary information to get everyone started on the planning process. I will be sending out more detailed information as I get it.

Please note that athletes who plan to attend Summit, will not be permitted to miss practices in April. We will also be planning to have some weekend practices leading up to Summit, to ensure our team is ready to make the climb successfully at The Summit! We appreciate your understanding and support.

For those unfamiliar with the Summit, it is an end of season event put on by Varsity for levels 1 through 5 teams (youth through senior teams only) in Orlando, Florida. This prestigious event is the "Worlds" event for these noted levels and is by invitation (BID) only. The Summit brings together the top teams from across the country in each division to compete for the coveted Summit Title. There is a lot of good information, as well as a Q & A, about the Summit located on the Varsity website at:www.varsityallstar.com.

CCNW PRELIMINARY SUMMIT INFORMATION:

Athletes will need to travel on the air carrier and itinerary of their choice with a parent, or another parent willing to chaperone. We will NOT be booking a group flight for all Summit teams and athletes. If you are NOT planning to travel to Summit with your athlete, please let your team mom(s) know ASAP if you need assistance in finding another parent willing to chaperone.Due to SafeSport rules, coaches are not allowed to chaperone athletes. Please plan accordingly.

FLIGHT STIPULATIONS:

Athletes MUST be in Orlando by 6:00 pm Thursday evening, 4/27! WE will be having our Tuesday 4/25 practice that week and then will allow athletes to depart any time Wednesday, or Thursday morning. Attendance in our Tuesday practice is MANDATORY and may extend later into that evening based on our overall needs at that time. Athletes SHOULD NOT book a flight to depart prior to Wednesday. Thursday we will plan to have a team practice at our onsite facility in our hotel. We will let parents know exactly what time that will be that evening as soon as Competition Travel opens up their practice booking schedule. We will be competing on Friday in the Wild Card Division. Finals will be held on Sunday.

Our schedule will be very up in the air with practices and compete times all weekend, so please do not make any big family plans with your athletes until we have everything confirmed (likely just a couple weeks prior to the competition). We will be keeping athletes together and scheduled as much as possible and will ensure that they are well prepared for their competition, bonding as a team(s), and having fun.

We will be having our lovely team moms set up Google docs, and will be sending out the link requesting information from parents in regards to athlete flights, arrival/departure days, etc. as we get closer to Summit. We strongly encourage you to book your hotel and flights NOW, as more and more teams will be receiving bids over these next several weekends at our local competitions. Flights tend to go up pretty quickly as the demand sets in. Again, we will be having our Tuesday practice and then will allow athletes to depart any time Wednesday, or Thursday morning. Attendance in our Tuesday practice is MANDATORY. Athletes who are unable to attend will not be able to take the floor with their team at Summit.

HOTEL:

We will have athletes rooming with their parents at Summit. You are required to stay at one of our designated "CCNW Team properties." This ensures that the team gets their bonding time, and that they are easily accessible to coaches throughout the weekend. In addition, we will have an onsite practice facility set up at the Wyndham Bonnet Creek team hotel. The Hilton Bonnet Creek is across the street from the practice facility. Please plan to stay at one of our Team Hotels 4/27 - 4/30. Checkout date will be Monday. If you choose to extend your stay and move to another property beginning Monday, that is fine. Our room blocks have been reserved for CCNW at theWyndham Bonnet Creek and the Hilton Bonnet Creek. We will not have practice the following week to allow athletes some flexibility to either stay in Florida, or catch up on schoolwork.

ATHLETE COMPETITION REGISTRATION AND PARK HOPPER PASSES:

Athletes will be on the "Commuter Package". The cost is $432 per athlete and includes their competition fees, entry into ESPN venue Thurs - Sun., and a 2-day park hopper pass good for any of the four Disney theme parks. There will be an option for athletes to add additional days onto their park hopper pass when on the Commuter package, and we will get that info to you closer to the competition date.

*PAYMENTS DUE:

-We will be collecting a Varsity required deposit that is due by 1/19. The deposit amount that I will be collecting is $100. I will need to send that payment by 1/20, so I will plan to debit family accounts on 1/19. This will be listed on your family account as "Commuter Package" deposit fee. The remaining balance ($332) will be collected on 2/1. These fees will be automatically collected on the due dates listed above. Please make sure you have a current credit card on file. Athletes with delinquent accounts will not be able to be placed on the active Summit Roster and will forfeit their spot to attend Summit. Once we have our commuter fees paid in full, Varsity will begin processing our registration and our park hopper passes for our athletes. Once those are received then parents can go in and begin making their athletes park reservations.

**We will have more information out over the next several weeks regarding purchasing additional park hopper passes for families attending the event that wish to do so. There will also be an option for you to add on to your athletes 2 day park hopper pass should you be interested in doing so. If you purchase your Park Hopper passes through Varsity, they will include admission into the ESPN venue, so you will not need to buy a ticket for yourself to enter into the ESPN complex. If you are not interested in attending any of the Disney theme parks, you can purchase admission ONLY into the ESPN competition venue for approximately $40-50/day. Spectator tickets will be available for purchase at the venue.

ADDITIONAL FEES:

In addition to your airfare, hotel costs (paid directly by you), and your athletes competition fee listed above, the following additional items will be required for Summit. Please note that we are very early in our season and do not have the final fees listed below confirmed yet. We will be working with our vendors and our choreographers on pricing, and will get those out to all of you, once they are finalized. We will begin collecting some of these fees on 3/1. I will alert everyone of the final fee schedule once we have things finalized.

*Summit Practice Wear Package: $150-$200 plus tax (Estimate)

*Coach's fees: $175-$225 (Estimate)

*Summit Choreography Fee - $50-$100. (Estimate) We will confirm the amount before charging.

Please let me know if you have any questions!I will continue to keep you updated within the next few weeks! On to Aloha!!!

Thank you,
