The Summit Championships 2023-2024 Bid Distribution and Bid Declaration (2024)

Varsity will award bids to The Summit 2024, The D2 Summit 2024, and The Youth Summit 2024 based on the designated Event Type. Varsity offers various events, including Challenge, Classic, Showdown 1-day, Showdown 2-day, National, Grand National, and Super Nationals. They award the same number of bids based on the event type.

New for 2023-2024

• Select Varsity All Star events will award Lift Tickets to The Summit, The D2 Summit, and The Youth Summit. Scroll to the bid declaration below to learn more.
• As of April 9, 2024, all eligible teams in the Top 25 in each of the 40 standard League conferences without a bid to The Summit will receive an At-Large bid to their respective championship. The League is Varsity All Star’s season-long points race. Varsity awards varying points based on event type and placement.
• At US events, teams competing in IASF division are also eligible for Partial-Paid and Paid Bids (see the bid declaration below to see which events award to IASF divisions).

The Summit Championships 2024 Bid Declaration

Wild Card Bids

WILD CARD bids will go to the highest-scoring bid-eligible teams across different levels. The levels will be divided as follows: L1, L2, L3, L4, and L4.2/L5/L6.*

At-Large Bids

AT-LARGE bids will go to the highest-scoring bid-eligible teams across different levels. At events where PAID or PARTIAL-PAID bids are awarded, AT-LARGE bids will then go to the highest-scoring bid-eligible teams across the different remaining levels. International bids are ONLY offered at specific 2-day events and are only eligible for AT-LARGE bids designated specifically for teams in IASF divisions.

• At Non-Worlds bid events, the levels will be divided as follows: L1, L2, L3, L4, L4.2/L5/L6. At Worlds bid events, the levels will be divided as follows: L1, L2, L3, L4, L4.2, L5/L6
• PAID and PARTIAL PAID bids are always awarded first. When awarding AT-LARGE bids, any awarded PARTIAL-PAID or PAID bids will be considered when determining different levels (ex: An event where there are 6+ AT-LARGE Bids; the PARTIAL-PAID or PAID bids are awarded to a L2 team and a L3 team, the L1, L4, and L4.2/5/6 are the only levels eligible for the first three AT-LARGE bids. Once those levels have been satisfied, then ALL levels are eligible for the remaining bids and the process to satisfy the levels starts over.)

Partial Paid Bids

PARTIAL-PAID bids will go to the highest-scoring bid-eligible teams across different levels. The levels will be divided as follows: L1, L2, L3, L4, L4.2/5/6.

Paid Bids

PAID bids will go to the highest-scoring bid-eligible teams across different levels. At Non-Worlds bid events, the levels will be divided as follows: L1, L2, L3, L4, L4.2/L5/L6. At Worlds bid events, the levels will be divided as follows: L1, L2, L3, L4, L4.2, L5/L6.

*For US events giving bids in the International divisions, all guidelines above will apply. Exception: the
levels will be divided as follows: L1, L2, L3, L4. Canadian teams are the only non-US teams allowed to receive bids from Varsity All Star events in the United States. U.S. Protectorate Countries such as Puerto Rico, Guam & the Virgin Islands do not qualify as U.S. teams based on their own independent national sports authority infrastructures.

Lift Tickets

This season each of the Varsity All Star regions will be awarding LIFT TICKETS at select events. A Lift Ticket is a $125 credit to attend The Summit, The D2 Summit, The Dance Summit, or The Youth Summit.

Lift Tickets will be awarded after your tiered qualification bids are awarded and can be added to Wild Card, At-Large, and Partial Paid bids, but cannot be combined with a Paid Bid. Teams who earn a bid at the event are not eligible for lift tickets – so you cannot earn a bid and a Lift Ticket at the same event.

The $125 per athlete is awarded to the exact number of athletes that competed at the bid-giving event (no alternates or coaches). And the $125 will be discounted on your team’s registration for The Summit, The D2 Summit, The Dance Summit, or Youth Summit.

Lift Ticket winners will be announced on Tuesday, the day following the Bid Reveal show in your event BAND at 12:00 PM.

Spirit Cheer Super Nationals, UCA International All Star Championship, and USA All Star Super Nationals

• 6 PAID BIDS: One PAID Bid per level will be awarded to the highest-scoring bid-eligible team. The levels will be divided as follows: L1, L2, L3, L4, L4.2, L5/L6, including international divisions.
• 1 IASF Paid Bid
• AT-LARGE BIDS: Every bid-eligible National Champion will be guaranteed at least an AT-LARGE bid. In the event that the National Champion already has a bid, the bid will be awarded to the (bid-eligible) second-place team in that division.
• If the first-place team earns a PAID bid, an AT-LARGE bid will be awarded to the 2nd place team if they do not already have one. In the event that the 2nd place team has an at-large bid, the bid will be awarded to the 3rd place team, but will NOT be awarded past 3rd place in each division.

JamFEST Cheer Super Nationals, CHEERSPORT Nationals & NCA All-Star Nationals

• 12 PAID BIDS: Two PAID Bids per level will be awarded to the highest-scoring bid-eligible National Champions in each level. The levels will be divided as follows: L1, L2, L3, L4, L4.2, L5/L6.
• AT-LARGE BIDS: Every bid-eligible National Champion will be guaranteed at least an AT-LARGE bid. In the event that the National Champion already has a bid, that bid will be awarded to the (bid eligible) 2nd place team in that division.
• If the first-place team earns a PAID bid, an AT-LARGE bid will be awarded to the 2nd place team if they do not already have one. In the event that the 2nd place team has an at-large bid, the bid will be awarded to the 3rd place team, but will NOT be awarded past 3rd place in each division.

Tie-Breaker Policy

• FINAL PLACEMENT TIES: In the event that there is a tie for the final placements at any Varsity All Star competition, the tie will not be broken, and both/all teams will share the placement.
• WILD CARD & AT LARGE SUMMIT BIDS & LIFT TICKETS: In the event that there is a tie for a WILD CARD, AT LARGE Bid, or Lift Ticket, the tie will not be broken, and the bid will be awarded to both/all teams.
• PARTIAL-PAID & PAID SUMMIT BIDS: In the event that there is a tie for a PAID Summit Bid, the following Tie-Breaker policy will apply:
  • The bid will be awarded to the team with the least amount of deductions for Performance 2.
  • If the deductions for Performance 2 are equal or zero, the team with the least amount of deductions for Performance 1 will be awarded the bid.
  • If the deductions for Performance 1 are equal or zero, the bid will be awarded to the team with the highest Performance 2 score in the Overall Impression category.
  • If the Performance 2 Overall Impression category scores remain equal, the bid will be awarded to the team with the highest Performance 1 score in the Overall Impression category.
  • If the Performance 1 Overall Impression category scores remain equal, the tie will be broken by the Judges’ Choice.

The Youth Summit Championships Bid Declaration

Wild Card Bids

• At events with 3 Wild Card Bids, one bid will be awarded to the highest-scoring eligible D1 team and one bid will be awarded to the highest-scoring eligible D2 team, with the 3rd bid being awarded to the next highest-scoring eligible Youth team regardless of D1/D2 status.
• At events with 5 Wild Card Bids, two bids will be awarded to the two highest-scoring eligible D1 teams, and two bids will be awarded to the highest-scoring eligible D2 team, with the 5th bid being awarded to the next highest-scoring eligible Youth team regardless of D1/D2 status.

At-Large Bids

• At events with 3 At-Large Bids, one bid will be awarded to the highest-scoring highest-scoring eligible D2 team, with the 3rd bid being awarded to the next highest-scoring eligible D2 Teams.

Partial-Paid Bids

• Partial-Paid Bids will be awarded to the highest-scoring bid-eligible team regardless of D1/D2 status.

Paid Bids

• At events with 2 Paid Bids, one bid will be awarded to the highest-scoring eligible D1 team, and one bid will be awarded to the highest-scoring eligible D2 team.
• At events with 4 bids, two bids will be awarded to the highest-scoring eligible D1 teams, and two bids will be awarded to the highest-scoring eligible D2 teams.

In the event that there aren’t enough D1 or D2 bid-eligible teams, any remaining bids will go to the next highest-scoring teams, regardless of D1/D2 status.
