I have been cooking chicken thighs more and exploring new seasoning options since I came across Original Seasoning online. I knew I needed to try it out. So, I ordered some, and I wish I had ordered more.

What Is In The Seasoning?

When reading the label on the container, you can find rosemary, garlic, onion, lemon peel, and other herbs and spices. It is also low sodium, gluten-free, and sugarless. Even though the original Dan-O’s seasoning is low in sodium, it does contain natural sea salt.

What is excellent about this seasoning is that you can layer it on thick and let the herbs and spices give the chicken flavor without over-salting it. This seasoning is also friendly to many diets, like keto, vegetarian, etc.

As the company’s motto goes, “Put Some Dan-O’s On It!” and I would add to that by saying, “Put It On Thick!”

Preparing the Propane Grill For Boneless Skinless Chicken

Step 1: If your propane grill is not already clean, grab a cleaning brush and clean any burnt-up bits off the grill. You do not want any burnt stuff sticking to the chicken.

Step 2: Turn on the propane and get the grill’s temperature to 300 degrees Fahrenheit. Let the grating get hot before adding the chicken.

Cooking the Seasoned Chicken Thighs

Step 1: Place all of the seasoned chicken thighs onto the grill. Make sure to keep a meat thermometer handy to check the chicken.

Joshs Cookhouse Tips: Change your aluminum foil on the baking sheet after the chicken is on the grill. Then you will not be putting cooked chicken where you had raw chicken meat.

Step 2: After 5 minutes, take your tongs and flip all the chicken over. Continue grilling the Original seasoned chicken thighs are 145 degrees Fahrenheit.

Step 3: Once the chicken is up to temperature, put the chicken thighs back onto the baking sheet and close the lid.

Grilled Chicken Thigh FAQS

Can You Use The Same Seasoning For Baked Chicken Thighs?

Yes, you can use this seasoning for baked chicken thighs. The chicken will still have tons of flavor. In fact, lots of people prefer to bake their chicken over putting it on the barbeque.

Thighs Vs. Breast Meat?

When cooking thighs vs chicken breasts, there is a constant battle to which is better. For me, the thighs often have a bit more flavor and because the thighs have more fat, they are often juicier.
You can still make chicken breasts juicy but it is not as easy, and it is a bit on the bland side when compared to thighs.
I personally would say thighs are the winner when it comes to this specific recipe. In another recipe, like buffalo chicken dip, I would prefer breast meat to make that recipe.

Can You Use a Smoker?

For this recipe, I would highly recommend trying out a smoker and letting the thighs smoke for additional flavor. This is a great way to mix it up when making chicken.

Can Chicken Thighs Be Grilled?

Yes, grilled chicken thighs absolutely can be grilled. The chicken cooked in this recipe is cooked on a Weber Kettle Grill using lump charcoal.
