Game Day Snacks for the Win

There is nothing quite like Super Bowl Sunday. Aside from the football, I love all the great food that goes along with watching the game, including wings, dips, meatballs, sliders, charcuterie boards, and so much more.

Anything that can feed a hungry crowd of cheering fans is perfect for game day, and I love to offer a variety Super Bowl appetizers to keep everyone’s energy up.

Thankfully, there are a lot of winning Super Bowl food ideas to choose from, such as the fan-favorite of baked chicken wings, the surprise play of white bean hummus, or the touchdown of meatball sliders. Go team!

Planning Super Bowl Party Foods

When planning a Super Bowl party, I like to start by choosing what appetizers I am going to serve. Some things I keep in mind when making my menu are:

  • Amount needed. How many guests are coming? Adults? Kids? I like to serve 1 appetizer per 3-4 people coming. So if there are 12 people coming I’ll typically make 4 Super Bowl appetizers (or better yet, have everyone bring something to share).
  • Variety. I love to offer a lot of options so everyone has something they love to eat. This means I choose different proteins, textures, spice levels, temperatures, and flavors.
  • Temperature. I try to balance the amount of hot dishes I have to cold dishes, just to give a bit more variety.
  • Serving location. This is an important question to consider. If I have a bigger party, I will typically set up a buffet-style serving table with maybe one dip on the coffee table in front of the TV. For smaller parties, I might simply put items in serving bowls and put all the Super Bowl appetizers on the coffee table.
  • Effort. I want to watch the game, too, so I like to choose things I can make ahead of time or won’t keep me running around too much during play time.
  • Tastes. I always try to consider what my guests can and like to eat when choosing an array of dishes. That way, I know there is at least one dish for everyone, if possible.

Super Bowl Finger Foods

There is nothing better than an easy-to-eat appetizer while watching the big game. From sliders to potato skins, these are my favorite Super Bowl finger foods on game day.
